40th Anniversary Territory Day

On 1 July, 1978, the Northern Territory was granted self government. This year we celebrate 40 years of being the NT we know and love.

On 1 July, 1978, over 6000 Territorians gathered to celebrate a new era of independence and self-government. Forty years on and again thousands across the NT will gather in local community hubs to celebrate the diversity and uniqueness of living up North. Highlighting the range of free events is the Mindil Beach concert featuring Crowded House's Neil Finn and raper Baker Boy. Relationships Australia NT is proud to be a local non-for-profit servicing individuals, couples, children and families across the Territory. This year say g'day to your neighbours and take part in some community events to get into the spirit of Territory Day. For a full list of events visit https://territoryday.nt.gov.au/whats-on, enjoy the fireworks and have a happy Territory Day!
