Female Aboriginal and Islander Cultural Advisor (AICA)

An exciting opportunity exists to join the staff of Relationships Australia NT in the above position at the Family Relationship Centre (FRC), Alice Springs.

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

Assisting the Family Relationship Centre (FRC) and RANT in providing effective, innovative and culturally appropriate services for Aboriginal people.

  • Delivering information and education programs to clients.
  • Participating in community development and networking events with relevant organisations and services.
  • Travelling to Tennant Creek and Aboriginal Communities when required.

 

SELECTION CRITERIA

1. Demonstrated capacity to articulate the needs of Aboriginal people in their family relationships.

2. Demonstrated capacity to provide innovative responses to the emerging and identified needs of Aboriginal people in their family relationships.

3. Demonstrated capacity to engage with Aboriginal communities, organisations and individuals to deliver community education, networking and service promotion.

4. Demonstrated ability to undertake and maintain an appropriate level of case management.

5. Possession of effective oral and written communication skills in a cross-cultural environment.

6. Ability to use a variety of computer applications and communication systems.

7. Proven ability to develop and deliver information about Aboriginal cultural knowledge within a similar organisation.

8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team within the values and ethos of RANT.

DESIRABLE:

9. Possession of or significant progress towards the completion of degree/diploma level tertiary qualifications in social science, community development or education desirable.
