Cooperative Parenting Program

LIVING SEPARATELY, PARENTING TOGETHER Family separation can be a challenging time for parents and children. It is usually a difficult and emotional time, involving planning for how you share the care of your children and meeting their emotional support needs, while also taking care of yourself.

Every person who is involved in separation experiences it differently.

You are no longer a couple, your partnership has ended, but you are both still the parents of your children.

Ongoing conflict between parents adversely affects children too. Children can get confused and worried about divided loyalty to parents; can become withdrawn and can have developmental problems, even into adulthood.

Our counselling, support & referral services are designed to assist separated parents build a stronger parenting relationship.

The service aims to support parents practice positive ways of parenting and to communicate more effectively with their ex -partners. We can assist separated parents preparing for family dispute resolution and offer help with strategies to achieve effective child focused parenting arrangements.

Our education seminar, Building Connections, offers ways to move on after separation, and encourages awareness on the importance of giving up entrenched conflict and in supporting children in having a relationship with both parents, for the benefit of their children.

Most importantly, the Post Separation Cooperative Parenting (PSCP) services can help parents to move forward, and to focus on a better and bright future for themselves and their children.

For more information about PSCP call our offices in either Alice Springs or Darwin.
